Piano music (Vol 1) – John Field (Naxos)
To my ear the Nocturnes of Irish-born John Field (1782-1837) seem remarkably close in mood and ‘englishness’ to many of the piano themes from Pride and & Prejudice, so maybe a nice budget collection of Field’s piano music (volume 1) from the Naxos label would make a good ‘authentic’ alternative?

Irish-born Field (1782-1837) was a successful composer/pianist and wrote many delightful nocturnes before the form was more famously adopted by Chopin. Charming, delicate and relaxing.
