10 Questions for the Dalai Lama (film soundtrack) Peter Kater (SilverWave/Discord Distribution)
www.10questionsforthedalailama.com

In the enchanting video intro on the website it is suggested that the Dalai Lama is many things to many people(s), and I know that for many Kindred Spirit readers he is just about the most enduring figure of inspiration and hope on the world stage at the present time, and he occupies a very special place in our collective heart. So I felt I had to bring this soundtrack CD to your attention, just in case, like me, you were unaware that the movie it accompanies has recently been released, at least in the US.

The website explains more about what should be a fascinating and insightful movie by filmmaker and interviewer, Rick Ray. Along with rare historical archive material, as well as exotic visions of Tibet, Ray reveals the outcome of his privileged opportunity to pose 10 questions to His Holiness in the one hour allotted. With much to communicate on non-violence, selflessness and good humour in the face of deepening global unrest, here’s hoping that the Dalai Lama’s 10 answers get full media exposure worldwide via this movie project.

Unfortunately, when applied to the soundtrack CD, the title is a little misleading because we don’t get to hear even the questions, let alone the answers. This is simply a music soundtrack CD, and in the hands of Grammy-nominated pianist/composer and new age favourite, Peter Kater, it is of course skilled work, sensitively conceived and created. It’s a rewarding listen, but I’m more looking forward to experiencing it in its original context as no doubt it will be even more poignantly moving.
