Continuing the discussion of ‘music to do yoga to’ (see Wheels of Sound review): Chinmaya’s latest CD could be to your liking if you favour an authentic Indian feel – okay, this CD is about evoking Buddha’s enlightenment, not Krishna’s, and hence lacks the Kundalini mantras found on Wheels of Sound, but it excels comparatively in presence and sheer beauty of atmosphere.

Certainly long years of training are evident, not just in instrumental technique but also collaborative improvisation – the organic flow between Chinmaya and friends is enchanting in its timelessness, presenting a reflectiveness that echoes the soul’s yearning to return to the unknowable.
