Saffron Blue - Rasa (New Earth)

Thanks to Jai Uttal, Craig Pruess, Chinmaya Dunster and others there has been for a while now a fair amount of quality world music available that captures and communicates the sounds and spirit of the Indian sub-continent. Worlds apart from the clichéd pastiches (pastichés?) produced by solo new-agers noodling away with keyboard samples in their home studios a few years back. And now we can add Rasa to the list of good guys. The production is a little too big and sanitised (thereby typical these tech-obsessed times) but the voices are tremendous and deliver what feel like real chants and invocations.
